my parents are also pretty supportive compared to others, which is why I mentioned indirect criticism. they don't mean to hurt you in any way, but it still does affect you.
It’s a very competitive culture… and I think part of it is because there are so many people, especially in India, so naturally there are just more people to compete against.
Being compared to her older brother is what crushed my mother’s confidence entirely. It’s heartbreaking to see. I sometimes feel like I’m getting crushed by comparison too… but a lot of it is my fault rather than my parents 😭
